Former University of Minnesota heavyweight wrestler has been added the the Matrix Fights 1 card in Philadelphia on Feb. 27, according to fiveouncesofpain.com.

Konrad recently notched his first MMA victory, and the world took notice. He's a two-time NCAA wrestling champion and a main training partner for UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

Promotions like Dream and Bellator are already after Konrad, so it was a big "get" for Matrix Fights first event.

Konrad will fight Joel Wyatt (5-2) a jiu-jitsu purple belt out of Virginia.

"The addition of a fighter with the pedigree of Cole Konrad is a tremendous coup for Matrix and a strong example of our intent to become the premier MMA organization in the city of Philadelphia,” Matrix Fights President Jimmy Binns Jr. told fiveouncesofpain.com. “We were very satisfied with the existing card we had in place but with this being our first event, we wanted to really make a statement. Landing Cole Konrad’s second-ever professional MMA bout is about as big of a statement that a regional promotion can make.”
